About me
Author, illustrator, animator, librettist, artist, performer, and playwright Mo Willems' career began as a writer and animator for PBS' "Sesame Street". Since then, he has written and illustrated 50+ New York Times Bestselling childrens' books, created multiple TV series and specials, and written several short operas. Mo's illustrations and abstract paintings have been exhibited around the world, including major solo retrospectives at the High Museum (Atlanta) and the New-York Historical Society (NYC). Willems has become the most produced playwright of Theater for Young Audiences in America, having written or co-written four musicals based on his books. While nowhere near having attained an E.G.O.T., Mo is one of the few creators working today to have garnered a G.E.E.CH. (Geisel, Emmy, Eisner, Caldecott Honor).
