About me
Merrill Garbus is a musician, producer, composer and looping maven who slams, wails and shakes with her band, Tune-Yards. She released her first, self-recorded album, BiRd-BrAiNs, in 2009, the same year that she moved to Oakland. Lately she is co-writing scores for Boots Riley's projects with her band- and life-partner Nate Brenner, and the duo is also on the verge of releasing their sixth Tune-Yards record later this year. They in no way meant to co-opt the "Sketchfest" moniker when they named their last record "Sketchy" and released a sketch comedy show on YouTube called "sketchy.TV"! Photo credit: Nate Brenner
