George Chen is a
writer, event organizer, comedian, and actor in Los Angeles. He produces the monthly multimedia variety show
Talkies at Whammy Analog in Echo Park. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, George has produced shows at
Giant Robot,
Night Gallery,
Whammy Analog, and
Machine Project. He has performed comedy at
SF Sketchfest,
Sled Island, Nevada City Film Festival, Rogue Island Comedy Festival,
The Comedy Comedy Festival, Crash Test (with Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer),
Put Your Hands Together,
Holy Fuck, Marin Headlands Center for the Arts,
Contemporary Jewish Museum, and
SFMoMA.
George worked on the team that built
EquiTable, which won the SF Sketchfest 2016
Comedy Hack Daypresentation. He has acted in commercials and appeared in an episode of HBO’s_
Looking. _He has been running the record label
Zum since the 1990s, releasing experimental and indie music from across the globe. Chen also co-hosted the documentary discussion podcast
Sup Doc and contributes to
Altamagazine.
