Hilarious Habibis
Friday January 17, 2025 7:00pm - 8:30pm PST
Hilarious Habibis – hosted by Gena B. Jones and Lynn Maleh – is Hollywood's FIRST EVER standup showcase featuring Middle Eastern/North African [MENA] comedians. The show, which has been featured in Alaraby TV and Between East, aims to bring together a diverse group of artists and audiences to laugh about everything, from brown parent trauma and cultural hiccups to AMC commercials and lube. What began as a way for MENA comedians to get in front of agents and managers has evolved into something so much bigger: a countercultural hub for the MENA community in LA and beyond. Past shows have featured a range of up-and coming and established MENA comics, including Bassem Youssef, Maz Jobrani, Dina Hashem, Aristotle Athari, Dave Merheje, and Crystal Marie.

With guests Kari Assad, Christie Bahna, Reem Edan, Farzin Moradi, and Rubi Nicholas.

Talkies
Thursday January 23, 2025 7:00pm - 8:30pm PST
Talkies is the best unconventional, experimental, and multi-media live comedy event on the West Coast. At Talkies, comedians, writers, improvisers, and performers work outside of their regular routines to push the boundaries of comedy; PowerPoint presentations, characters, and off-stage antics are the order of the day.

Started in the basement of San Francisco's Lost Weekend Video store, this monthly show has been an incubator for many unique comedy talents spreading their wings on weird flights of fancy. Talkies now has a new home in LA at the Whammy Analog VHS store every third Thursday!

Past guest performers have included Aparna Nancherla, Brent Weinbach, Ron Lynch, Frankie Quinones, Myq Kaplan, Sad Vicious, Mary Mack, and Beth Lisick. The show is a regular feature of SF Sketchfest and almost always sells out.

Featuring your hosts - Nick Stargu, George Chen, Aviva Siegel, Land Smith and guests Jaren George, Iain Langlands, The London Cycling Man, and Maryam Moosavi
